Joker Arroyo dies at 88, confirmed by family!

The nation now mourns as one of the pillars of the government passes away.

Former Senator Joker Arroyo died at the age of 88 last Monday, October 5 due to heart ailment.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed only today by a family member who asked not to disclose his/her identity.

Arroyo and his family went to the United States for a heart operation where he spent his last breath.

Serving the government and the public almost all his life, Arroyo became a popular human rights lawyer during the Marcos era and acted as Executive Secretary/Political Adviser of the late president Corazon Aquino.

His political career continued as he was elected Representative of Makati for three (3) terms before stepping to a higher position as senator. He also hold the reputation “Scrooge of Congress” since he never used his P200-million annual Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel allocation.

He is survived by his second wife Felicitas Aquino and daughter “Joker” and two other daughters (Ma. Antonia Odelia Gregorio Arroyo and Ma. Zef Francisca Arroyo) with first wife Odelia.
